Geoff Tyler - Railway Modeller: 2019 - Buildings are scratchbuilt by me from Plasticard with the exception of the Queen's Hotel on the seafront which was made by Ken Ball, and some Metcalfe terraces. Track is Peco Finescale (code 55), turnouts are electrofrog, control is by AMR. Electromagnets are scattered about in strategic places for uncoupling. The aim is to have a small S & D terminus with hands free shunting. The long ...
John Ahern's Model Building Plans - Page 4 - Card ... - Yes, it's straightforward (I won't say easy as some people struggle) to make a model, from scratch, of a building, but it is essential to have reference, in the form of drawings and/or photographs, to provide inspiration and to work from.
GWR Modelling site index, site thanks, how to contribute ... - GWR Modelling began in 1999 as a single page of internet links for Great Western modellers. In the modelling world, a lot of people were still doing GWR branchlines, and diesel MPDs seemed almost novel. Manufacturers like Nucast, D&S and Mike's Models were still around. The revolution in RTR detail was still in its infancy.

Model Railways-Planbooks: Books of Plans, Diagrams - The book covers the whole field of building scale model locomotives, and though giving prominence to 4mm and 7mm models (OO and O gauges), the techniques described and the drawings featured are equally applicable to the larger scales, whether the motive power be by live steam or electric motor. The volume contains many unique fully-dimensioned drawings such as the range of GWR chimneys, and drawings and full descriptions of the workings of various types of valve gear. These sections and ...

Midland Kirtley 0-6-0 Well tank - Scalefour Forum - I scratchbuilt a Kirtley 0-6-0 WT many years ago in EM gauge, using a combination of Skinley drawing and photos. At the time the only available wheels were Romford 18mm - this was in the mid-1970's. Much later, when more appropriate wheels became available, I re-wheeled it using 17mm (Gibson??) and introduced compensation. It is powered by a Mashima 1224 motor and driven by Romford 40/1 gears in a home made gear cradle.

how to make realistic model buildings - - Many ready made models, (Hornby Scaledale for instance), are now available to the modeller. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, there can be distortions which spoil the model. It is a medium that can be used at home to make multiple copies. I personally find it a far better system to make multiple chimneys than whole buildings.
Scratch Building Tutorials - HO, N, O and OO Scale Model ... - Scratch building is the practice of building a model from basic materials, as opposed to assembling components from a kit. The advantages of building from scratch are often cost, versatility, and for many, a deeper sense of accomplishment. Since many kits need a certain amount of preparation - sanding and trimming of the included parts, the extra steps involved in scratch building are often ...

Hull & Barnsley H1 2-4-0 Scratch-build - Kitbuilding ... - Next a selection of photographs showing the cab assembly. The spectacle plate and the cab sheeting are original etches. The rear wheel splashers are scratchbuilt as the etches supplied in the kit leave something to be desired. Hopefully, over the course of the next few weeks I will attempt to post regular updates of the build as it progresses.

Modelling Blackfriars Bridge station - Our model has been scratchbuilt. LCDR 0-4-2 'Brigand' 'Brigand' was one of two locomotives purchased from Sharp Stewart. They were built in 1861 as part of a batch of locomotives designed by Patrick Stirling for use on the Glasgow and South Western Railway, but were diverted to the Chatham! It is unlikely they would have turned up at Blackfriars Bridge as they were employed mainly on ...

National Festival of Railway Modelling 2019 - Layout ... - The majority of the buildings, scenery and trackwork represent the features and layout at the Yealmpton end of the branch and are all proprietary items, some converted from other scales, and apart from the loco shed which is scratch built, can be purchased from most model shops. There are no ready to run locomotives or rolling stock available in this scale, apart from Triang TT which was discontinued in 1964. All the models operating on the layout are made from kits or scratch built sources ...

p4newstreet - work in progress | Page 96 | Model Railway Forum - Reworked with Lanarkshire models buffers, archers rivets and new axleboxes from the spares box. The brake lever is an etch and the ratchetey looking guide is from a piercing saw blade. This wagon is really too long to be rigid and there's not a lot of room for any sort of springing or compensation units so the solution here (which I remember from a P4 society digest sheet years ago) is to file ...

MR Kirtley Well Tank 0-6-0T - Peter K kit - Scalefour Forum - Perusing the bring and buy at Scaleforum on Sunday afternoon I chanced upon a Peter K kit for the MR Kirtley Well Tank 0-6-0T. A lovely little loco that I couldn't resist adding to the growing collection of unbuilt loco kits. Sadly the kit is missing one vital ingredient - the instructions! There is a scale drawing of the loco and a parts list, but nothing else.
